[GJS Symposium] Tradition x Internationalization - Connecting the World and Interacting with Imagination

In modern times, traditional culture is no longer a "legacy of the past," but a "present, ongoing" culture that is being reinterpreted and recreated in an international context. Through a variety of genres, including Noh and Kyogen, Japanese film, and manga, this symposium will explore the intersection of pop culture and classical performing arts, domestic and international, and creation and inheritance. Through presentations by researchers and practitioners active both in Japan and overseas, we will consider the possibilities and future of traditional performing arts from multiple perspectives.

[US-China Relations Symposium] Escalating US-China trade friction and conflict and its impact on the Japanese and global economies

Trump's tariffs are sending shock waves through the global economy. The tit-for-tat battle between the U.S. and China, including retaliatory tariffs and countermeasures, is not only having a negative effect on the economies and imports and exports of both countries, but is also accelerating the disruption of industrial supply chains around the world, adversely affecting global economic growth.
This symposium will discuss with leading experts the nature and problems of the escalating US-China conflict and trade and technology friction, as well as their future direction and their impact on the Japanese and global economies.
